# Amazon Ring vulnerability could have been used to spy on users

Amazon has patched a vulnerability in the [Ring Android application](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/204384784-Downloading-and-updating-the-Ring-app) which, left unchecked, had the potential to expose the personal data of Ring product owners, including their video recordings and location data, according to researchers at application security specialist [Checkmarx](https://checkmarx.com).
