Agent Management
The IAST agent is responsible for monitoring application execution and collecting security related data. All collected data is then sent to the IAST Server for deeper analysis.
If you install an agent for the first time, you have to first download it. Afterwards, the agent is upgraded automatically unless the auto upgrade feature has been disabled from the agent configuration.
Click Service and select Agent Management.
The Agent Management screen represents the status of each deployed agent, both active and non-active ones. The Agent Management dialog includes the following information.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Server Address | Server address that the agent resides |
Agent ID | Unique agent Id |
Language | Language that the application runs |
Agent version | Current version of the installed agent |
Last Communication | Last communication with the agent |
Projects | List of projects that the agent is assigned too |
<DEPLOY AGENT> | Redirects you to the Agent Walkthrough page, from which you can download of the latest version of an agent. Refer to the instructions on downloading an agent below. NoteThe agent version is automatically updated when upgrading IAST. |
On the Agent Management page, click <DEPLOY AGENT>. You are redirected to the Agent Walkthrough page.
From the Agent Walkthrough page, select a language from the Select language drop-down.
Click DOWNLOAD. The 'CxIAST-agent' zip archive is downloaded to your default download directory.
Transfer and extract the zip archive on the same machine as the one that the application is being tested.
Start the application according to your installation.
The IAST Agent Manager can communicate with multiple IAST Agents. To assist in troubleshooting, IAST Agents can send alerts to the IAST Manager, which are accessed from both the Agent Management page and the Projects page.
To view the alerts:
Click the DEPLOYMENT ISSUES DETECTED indicator, located in the top-right of the Agent Management and the Projects pages. The Deployment Issues Detected page opens, displaying the alerts, as illustrated below:
IAST Agents can send the following alerts:
Low heap memory - if an agent runs in an environment with less than 1GB available memory.
Restart required - if a manual AUT restart is required for proper functionality.
No permissions - if the agent's process does not have proper permissions to create local files, such as log files.
To acknowledge reviewing an alert:
In the Acknowledge column, click X . The alert is hidden.
Note
Currently, this functionality is only supported in Java environments.
